Temasek Laboratories
Director's Message

Welcome to the website of Temasek Laboratories at the National University of Singapore (TL@NUS).
TL@NUS was established on 6 September, 2000 as a research institute at the National University of Singapore. We conduct research into selected areas of science and technology that are critical to Singapore's defence and security. Our key mission areas are: aeronautical sciences, electromagnetics, cognitive science, information security, nonlinear dynamics and signal processing.
We aim to develop TL@NUS into a centre of excellence for upstream, basic research in defence science and technology in support of our national requirements. To this end, we continually strengthen our competency by building up core teams of researchers with strong fundamental knowledge in the respective mission areas, innovative ideas, as well as sound practical perspectives. We currently employ over 70 researchers in the key mission areas, and welcome international candidates with good research track records to join us.
Part of our development strategy is to advance our work through collaboration. We have been regularly developing collaborative projects within NUS, particularly with the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, Dept. of Mathematics, Dept. of Physics and Dept. of Computer Science. We have also been engaging local and international collaborators in selected research topics. Some of our past and present collaborators include Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Dassault Aviation (France), BAE Systems (UK), University of California at Irvine (USA), Ohio State University (USA), and University of Texas at Arlington (USA).
To facilitate the transition of fundamental research results to applications in defence and security, TL@NUS works toward forging a close link between NUS research community and Singapore's defence science research community in DSO National Laboratories and the industries. In particular, we partner DSO in our research to enhance our awareness of technological needs and potential applications. TL@NUS also assists Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) in coordinating and promoting NUS-MINDEF research collaborations.
On behalf of TL@NUS, I invite you to visit our website to find out more about research opportunities, as well as upcoming seminars and meetings that may be of interest to you.
