Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA), Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), has been funding various research projects in NUS.

With the desire to widen the research areas and to engage more researchers in taking up upstream, fundamental research -- to understand new phenomena and technology, to develop measurement techniques and computational tools, etc. -- that is relevant to Singapore's defence and security, DSTA is extending its co-operation with NUS by offering different funding schemes to support defence and security - related R&D in NUS.
